Fr. Joel said that he had gratefully received the donation of £1150 sent in March 2015 to the Living Bread Organisation which cares for the orphans in the Zomba district by fostering them out to families whose only financial support is the provision of food and secondary school fees paid for by St. Chad’s Church by their donate each school term. Enclosed with the photos were the detailed accounts of how the donation was spent. This can be seen on the Malawi Orphans noticeboard in church. He continues saying:
“Isaac (who joined Fr. Joel when he was aged 8 when his grandma were unable to care for him completely) has finished first year and in July he starts second year. He is doing well and school fees we are yet to be told since they have increased it. He has gone home for holiday. Maria is finishing first year July and September 2015 she goes for teaching practice and she will be given allowances monthly for up keep by College. Caswell has also started second year at St. Luke’s Nursing College. Retired priests are happy that we are paid but the question is will it be permanent or temporary? Our prayer it should be permanent otherwise more suffering for us”.
10th June 2015. “Isaac will be in class on 26th July
2015 starting second year, God has favoured him still because all government
sponsored students starting first year will pay 433 pounds no meal and
accommodation allowances but Isaac and colleagues from second year will pay 95
pounds and stationery as you donor wishes. This is tough time for poor students
and people have already said education in Malawi for the rich now. The
government says all universities in the world do not give allowances. Greetings to St. Chad congregation and Mary. Fr. Joel”.
Thank you St. Chad’s Church congregations. Your regular donations support children who would otherwise get no assistance.
