Like many others we are concerned about the climate crisis that the world is facing, we are therefore working towards being an Eco Church.
This means thinking about every aspect of the life of the church from worship to woodland, from campaigning to cups.
So far on on Eco Church Journey we have:
- undertaken the Eco Church Survey
- Come up with an action plan of what we need to do
- Undertaken the Eco Church Survey
- Hosted an Eco Festival
- Reached our Bronze Award
- Started planning towards our Silver Award
- Hosted an Eco Music Festival to raise funds for our environmental projects
What we have done so far
Plant Survey
Have you ever wondered how many different plants grow in your garden, or even in the church grounds? Well, thanks to a survey carried out by John and Monika Walton we now have a much better idea how many different species of plants are found in the church grounds: there are at least 72 different plant species in the church grounds and some of which have some very interesting names!
Community Garden
Developing the grounds for the benefit of the local community and wildlife.
Church Woodland which is now a community space for people to use

Heating System we initially looked at a ground source heat pump, but that was not a viable option because we did not have enough outdoor space for this, so we have installed a new gas boiler, which is far more energy efficient.
LED Lights have been installed in the church and around the outside of the church building, replacing the old halogen lights and therefore saving 75% in energy usage. We have also upgraded the lighting in the hall so that uses less energy.
A lot of these changes to the building have been undertaken as part of Phase I of our building works project and has been supported by grants from a number of different funders.
